#PKinspo Iconic Bridal Looks

By now, you all know we at Petite Keep are always looking to Pop Culture for inspiration. With wedding season in full swing, we can’t take our minds off some of Pop Culture’s most iconic bridal looks. There’s just something about a wedding in a movie that makes our hearts skip a beat!

Sex and The City

Carrie Bradshaw's Vivienne Westwood gown was an absolute show-stopper. The details of her wedding look are truly the definition of head-to-toe, from the fabulous feather in her veil to the gorgeous ballgown silhouette. “A dress so special it could even wring a wedding tear from even the most unbelieving of women” - Carrie Bradshaw

Though, we may argue that her courthouse wedding look was even more fabulous. Simple and sophisticated, her nameless suit is a thrift find for the ages. She finished off the look with her iconic blue Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Mamma Mia

Elegant touches of shimmer and blue made Sophie look like a Greek Goddess in her wedding dress. “‘I was inspired by sculptures of Athenian maidens at Acropolis, known as korai, as well as the sea and its reefs’, says [costume designer, Ann] Roth. She topped off the look with a crystal-and-seashell headdress.” -Angela Salazar

27 Dresses

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. That was Jane’s life in 27 Dresses. We all know, and giggle at, the outrageous bridesmaid’s dresses Jane had to endure… you know, the ones the bride swears you can shorten and wear again. When it was finally her turn, those 27 brides wore the bridesmaids’ dresses from their own weddings as they stood by Jane’s side. Jane went with a simple gown, designed to show off her figure: an Amsale dress designed specifically for the film.

The Notebook

Though Allie and Lon weren’t meant to be, Allie’s dress is a dream come true. The gorgeous lace long-sleeves with illusion neckline is a timeless dress that many current brides are taking inspiration from. Long-sleeved dresses are huge this year!

And let’s not forget the iconic scene in the tub, when she's still wearing the veil!

Father Of The Bride

As huge Nancy Meyers fans, we can’t let a wedding conversation pass us by without talking about Father of the Bride. George Banks wasn’t ready to let his baby girl go, but Annie looked picture-perfect in her lace-and-satin ball gown. Notice the big bow on the back, another trend sweeping the wedding scene in the last few years. She prioritized comfort with her wedding sneakers underneath, an idea taken from Kimberly William’s own wedding to Brad Paisley.

Steel Magnolias

Blush and bashful… all the way down to the wedding gown. The first of many roles for which Julia Roberts would wear a wedding dress, Shelby was dressed to the nines for her big day in a bow-adorned, bustled, off-the-shoulder satin ball gown in Steel Magnolias.
