“Tell us about your wedding day”

Kathryn: We got married on February 19, 2021 after rescheduling our wedding due to COVID-19. Our original date was May 29, 2020. Our wedding day was perfect! We got married in a barn called The Carolina Barn about 20 minutes from our home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was the perfect chilly, winter day. We had a small, intimate wedding of about 65 people, which was just family and bridal party. It was followed by a beautiful reception with a acoustic guitar performer and delicious food. We will always look back on our wedding day with the happiest heart-it was everything we hoped it would be!

“How did you find Petite Keep and what keepsakes from your day are in your trunk?”

Kathryn: I stumbled upon the Petite Keep trunk on the Instagram pages of a few of my favorite bloggers and I was in love! I don’t have children yet, so I figured it would be the perfect way to effectively store my most prized wedding memories. My trunk is filled with so many details! I saved a few of the signs that our calligrapher wrote, adorned in gold bamboo frames. My white fur wrap that I wore around my arms, my wedding shoes, and my earrings are all in the trunk. A copy of each invitation for all of our showers, engagement party, my bachelorette party, and other celebrations surrounding our wedding are in there. I made sure to include my program, menu card, and koozies, too! My velvet monogrammed ring box, personalized dress hanger, handkerchief, and a copy of my Simply Jessica Marie watercolor crest are also inside! It is packed full of the most special details!

“What are your favorite keepsakes from your engagement + wedding day?”

Kathryn: I spent a lot of time on my wedding details, so those would have to be my favorite keepsakes. My family owns a shop here in my hometown called Betty Kelly’s Gift Shop. I will be the fourth generation in my family to own it, so it’s extremely near to my heart. Along with bridal registry, one of the things we specialize in is helping brides to create their wedding invitation suites and other paper products for their big day, so I had a lot of fun when it was my turn. I was able to design my program, my menu cards, my wedding and party invitations, and all of those beautiful things through our shop. I mainly love the things that a lot of time and thought went into, which also includes my koozies, my handkerchief, and any other personalized pieces!

"3 Tips for future brides, those gifting to brides on moments, or gestures that made your entire experience feel special and memorable"

1) To spend time on the details that mean the most to you because they will be the pieces that make your wedding unique and special. The personal touches that I spent time on during my planning ended up being my favorite parts of the big day. Besides getting to marry my best friend, of course!

2) Stop and look around. It is so easy to dance and chat the night away, which you should also do, but be sure to stop and soak it in! All of the guests at your wedding are there because they love you! It is one of the only times in your life where all of your favorite people will be in the same room. Soak in the sweet moment because it is surely special.

3) When gifting, make it personal. Make it something that thought and love went into. In our shop a lot of the time, we find that wedding guests love to give something personal. They love to give something that the bride & groom will remember them by each time they use it. Whether it is a monogrammed cutting board or a piece of their china that has their married initials engraved into itl, the personal gifts are always the first gifts off of a registry to sell. A Petite Keep trunk definitely falls right into this category. It is personal, thoughtful, and the bride will most certainly think of the thoughtfulness of this special gift each time that she opens her gorgeous trunk!
