A Conversation with Rifle Paper Co. Co-Founder, CEO, & Artist, Anna Bond
All good things start with a late-night DM, or in this case, an idea that had been quietly growing for months before one was ever sent.
The seed for this collaboration was planted long before that first message. Lindsay and I had often talked about the brands that inspire us, and Rifle Paper Co. has always been at the top of that list. We have both admired Anna Bond’s work for many years, watching as Rifle Paper Co. grew from a small stationery line into a design house known for its artful prints, rugs, wallpaper, and so much more. We share the same belief that artistry and storytelling can turn everyday life into something meaningful. When we began dreaming about potential collaboration partners, Rifle Paper Co. felt like a natural fit. Its aesthetic, values, and attention to detail align so closely with Petite Keep’s own. One evening, I finally sent Anna a DM to start the conversation, and that simple moment became the beginning of something truly special.
Together, our teams have brought to life the Rifle Paper Co. x Petite Keep collection, a capsule of heirloom-quality Trunks featuring four of Anna’s hand-painted patterns: Nativity, Laurel Menorah, Bramble Fields, and Storybook. Each one tells its own story, and celebrates the beauty, nostalgia, and heart that both of our brands hold dear.
I love that our collaboration started through a DM — such a modern way for two brands built on timeless tradition to meet. What about Petite Keep first resonated with you and made you want to connect?
This project felt like a natural fit from the start. Our brands have so much in common, from the aesthetic details to the heart behind what we do. I love the way Petite Keep treats family memories and keepsakes as something to be treasured. As a mom of five young children, I have kept so many mementos from my kids and love the idea of having somewhere special to keep it all, that could be a keepsake itself.

Rifle Paper Co. has such a recognizable art style. How do you approach designing patterns that feel nostalgic, yet fresh and modern at the same time?
My work has a recognizable style, but I’m always challenging myself to grow, both as an artist and a brand while maintaining something timeless. I’ve always been inspired by garden florals and vintage patterns, and have never been one to shy away from color.
The four prints in our collaboration — Nativity, Laurel Menorah, Bramble Fields, and Storybook — are each so distinct and special. Can you share a bit about the inspiration behind them and what they represent to you?
Bramble Fields I think of as a kind of “classic” Rifle Paper Co. pattern. It’s soft and floral, with a sweet pastel palette. Storybook is a little more playful and nostalgic, with illustrations inspired by classic children’s books. And with the holiday patterns, my goal is always to capture a bit of that seasonal magic. Nativity and Laurel Menorah are both very timeless and inviting, with some traditional motifs for Christmas and Hanukkah.

As a mother, how do you see art and memory intersecting in your own life? Could you share a tradition in your family that holds special meaning?
We have so many family traditions, especially around the holidays. We decorate cookies every year, have a family advent wreath we light nightly during Advent, attend the Nutcracker ballet, and celebrate St. Nicholas Day with gifts in the children’s boots that morning. My mom also saved so many of my childhood memories in bins (not as pretty!) and I recently went through them all. It was very special and meaningful because some of those objects hold memories that I would have otherwise forgotten if I didn’t have the object to help bring it back to life. I hope to be able to share that same experience with my children.

The holidays are full of sentiment, celebration, and tradition. What are some of your favorite holiday keepsakes, and how do you plan to use your Petite Keep x Rifle Paper Co. Trunks to hold them dear?
Some of my favorite holiday keepsakes are my nativity sets and my childhood ornaments. I plan to use the Rifle Paper Co. x Petite Keep holiday Trunk to store my most cherished ones including a beautiful paper maché nativity set that my grandmother bought in Mexico many years ago.

Both Rifle Paper Co. and Petite Keep are female-founded brands built around artistry, storytelling, and heart. What does it mean to you to partner with another brand that shares those same values?
So much of what we make at Rifle Paper Co. is about feeling joy, slowing down, getting back to the simple, tangible things, whether that’s writing with pen and paper, reading the classics, or even sitting down to share a meal with people you love. I love that Petite Keep is another brand that really values the meaningful, tangible things that make up our lives, and sees them as worth treasuring.
